I recently attended a great CAMPS event, the Leadership Forum at The Bellevue Club. Carey Suto, Director of Supply Chain for Western Integrated Technologies (WIT), presented insights about Manufacturing Supply Chain Cost Management.

Carey Suto shared specific strategies on how to evaluate supply chain vendors and break down the true cost of each product.

Discussion topics included:

  • Responsibility of Supply Chain Managers
  • Setting Performance Goals
  • Market Test Commodities
  • Supply Chain Cost Drivers
  • Ancillary Cost Drivers - Logistics, MRO, Hidden Costs
  • Supply Chain Collaboration

In his current role, Carey Suto focuses on reducing supply chain costs including materials, logistics, and MRO (expenses related to Maintenance, Repair and Operations). He is responsible for developing and documenting performance metrics including inventory turns performance, supplier quality, and delivery costs. He is also standardizing operating procedures for 12 facilities located in Western United States, Hawaiian Islands, and Guam.

Events such as this would be difficult without sponsor support. A special thank you goes out to the event sponsors Equinox Business Law Group and Parker, Smith & Feek.

This was an outstanding event. We had an opportunity to learn strategies for optimizing a supply chain, and manufacturing executives from around the region also had a chance to meet and network. The Bellevue Club is a venue with excellence, one to appreciate. What I found surprising was how supply chain management has evolved. Carey Suto quite rightly pointed out that collaboration and creating win-win situations is vital to create sustainable supply chains.
